About the Hospital
Shanghai Children's Medical Center (SCMC), affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine and co-founded in 1998 through a partnership between the Shanghai Municipal Government and Project HOPE, is China's designated National Children's Medical Center (Southern Hub) and the first children's hospital on the Asian mainland to achieve Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation.
With 1,500 beds and 31 clinical departments, SCMC operates one of the world's largest pediatric cardiac surgery programs, performing over 3,000 congenital heart operations annually with outcomes that benchmark favorably against leading international centers.
The hospital is nationally recognized for pediatric hematologic oncology, neonatology, and pediatric solid tumors, and has established China's first dedicated pediatric 3D-printing medical unit for preoperative planning of complex congenital heart repairs. Serving as the apex pediatric referral center for eastern and southern China, SCMC has built an extensive international clinical trials network and has treated children from across the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and beyond.

Featured Technology & Equipment
Pediatric Cardiac ECMO and Post-Cardiotomy Life Support

Pediatric Cardiac ECMO and Post-Cardiotomy Life Support
A dedicated neonatal and pediatric ECMO program supports infants and children with refractory heart failure after complex congenital heart surgery, using near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) monitoring to guide perfusion management in real time.
3D Printing Medical Research Unit for Congenital Heart Disease
3D Printing Medical Research Unit for Congenital Heart Disease
China's first dedicated pediatric 3D printing medical unit produces patient-specific soft flexible models of complex congenital heart defects from CT data, enabling surgeons to rehearse and optimize complex repairs before entering the OR.
Hybrid Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory

Hybrid Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory
A combined surgical-cath lab environment allows simultaneous open cardiac repair and interventional catheter procedures for complex congenital heart disease, reducing multi-stage operations and anesthesia risk in critically ill neonates.
