Guangdong Provincial People's Hospital, founded in 1946 and merged with the Guangdong Academy of Medical Sciences in 2008, is the largest comprehensive hospital in Guangdong Province with approximately 2,852 beds and 17 national clinical key specialties.
The hospital is home to the Guangdong Cardiovascular Institute, established in 1958, which serves as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Cardiovascular Diseases — the only such WHO-designated cardiovascular center in China and the Western Pacific Region.
